Paragliding jump in aid of KAR

TFR (The Foreign Residents) member, Jacqueline Jones, decided for her 70th birthday to make a tandem paragliding jump from a peak on the Besparmak Mountains, to raise funds for the dogs of Kyrenia Animal Rescue (KAR).

Last Thursday, October 2nd 2014, was finally the time for the jump, after it had to be postponed twice before due to unfavourable wind conditions.

Jacqueline’s husband Keith and their family member Digby the Dog, along with some friends, were excitedly waiting at the landing site in Karaoglanoglu.

Around noon time, you could see the paraglider take off just below the mountain summit. The flight took longer than expected because the thermal conditions were excellent, as the aircraft spiralled more and more upwards over the slopes. After about 30 minutes, Jacqueline and her “pilot” Özgür arrived safely and gently back on Mother Earth.

The courageous lady was thrilled by her first tandem flight and even more by the success of her donation campaign. She raised more than 3,400 TL for the animals at KAR!

Congratulations, Jacqueline, for your courage and success!
