The exhibition Alashia Reborn opened on 17th November, at Bedesten, in central Nicosia.
Art Students from all different countries such as Turkey, Cyprus and Iran had created replicas of ceramic archaeological finds that were once found on the island. Most of the Cypriot treasures have been taken out of the country to various museums around the world. They exist today in places like the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Museum in Stockholm and museums in France, England, Germany, Turkey and Greece.
Ceramic objects representing everything from full-length figures to urns, and beautifully decorated water and wine goblets. The oldest figures from the Neolithic time are about 7000 years old.
There were many people present when New Cyprus Magazine visited the exhibition. Parliament President Sibel Siber opened the exhibition together with the organizer Rauf Ersenal. The artists worked on their work outside the newly renovated exhibition hall, while the visitors could walk around and look. We met with the artist Evsen Emre, which among other things, said that it takes around 45 hours to complete a ceramic head.
