Calling upon all filmmakers!

Are you a professional filmmaker, do you have a concept and want to capture it on film, or maybe you have always wanted to have a go in the director’s chair? If yes, or if you know someone who can tinker with a film script and bring it to the screen, then read on.

The Ministry of Education and the Rialto Theatre is calling upon all filmmakers to send in their entries for the 13th Cyprus Film Days – International Film Festival 2015, which will take place from April 17 to 26 in Nicosia and Limassol. This is the 13th time that the festival has taken place and, as in other years, its organisers hope to attract new talent from Cyprus and abroad, to bring new industry members and audiences together, and to create a cinematic meeting point for the three continents surrounding Cyprus.

This will be the fifth consecutive year that the festival is holding a separate international competition section entitled Glocal Images, in which filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit feature-length fiction films. The main aim of these films should be to voice the diversity of local cultures and represent subjects that can be addressed to an international audience.

The films which will participate in the competition will be selected by the festival’s committee, which consists of academic Dr. Costas Constandinides, director and producer Tonia Misiali, and Stelana Kliris, who is also a director and a producer.

After the festival is over, the international jury will make its decision and award €6,000 to the best film, €3,000 for the film selected to receive the special jury award, and €1,000 for the best director award.

All those interested should submit an entry form by Friday, February 13, 2015, online at http://www.cyprusfilmdays.com/index.php.
