November 21st saw a mad weekend supporting the international charity, MOVEMBER Foundation. 57 players from the Korineum Golf and Beach resort came together, dressed in the most flamboyant outfits, to compete for trophies and prizes sponsored by GM Plastics, Mckenzie Guest House and Blue Frog Education. Men and ladies played a Stableford competition, with special prizes for Most Flamboyant Outfit, Straightest Drive and a Hole in 1 challenge, together with the usual challenges of longest drive and nearest the pin. A full list of winners will be posted within shortly.
It truly was a great day, interrupted by short spells of rain, but nothing got in the way of a great, social day. Players enjoyed fruit, cakes and a little tipple on the course, then gathered together in the Club Lounge for a presentation, headed by General Manager Umut. The men proudly wore their hard grown moustaches, the ladies wore their fake growths and they all came in the most flamboyant outfits they could find! And they were colourful, as the pictures suggest.
The competition alone raised over 1500TL, with more donated to the foundation by different golf groups. It has been a stunning example of what the local community can achieve when they work together! 3H, the golf society that led the organisation, hope to do it again next year, increase the funds raised and build on the awareness raising on men’s health issues, the key objective of the MOVEMBER Foundation.
No one won the hole in one this year, but three players came close! Better luck next year!
