A well known performer based in Paphos will once again be donning his deluxe Santa outfit to bring joy to hundreds of local children this year.
Entertainer Matthew Edmondson set up Talk of the Town events (TOTT) in Paphos a number of years ago, offering a variety of services including quality performances for both adults and children. They also undertake show productions, wedding co-ordination, party planning, children’s entertainment, corporate events and full entertainment programmes for hotels and cruises.
As Edmondson had also worked as a festive manager and actor in Lapland for a major UK tour operator, a couple of years ago he decided to include Santa’s grotto in his busy Cyprus schedule. This proved a hit, and last year he donned his Father Christmas outfit to include home visits in Paphos for the first time.
“It was successful and a magical experience for the children, so we are doing it again this year. I have two children of my own and I know how important and special this time of year is for them. I have been working with children since 2000, as a pirate, Captain Jack Pigeon.”
‘TOTT’ finds out a child’s likes and dislikes and if they’ve been naughty or nice before each visit. The children then get a small gift and a letter and photo with Santa.
“We also sing festive songs and play. Also, if parents have presents they want delivered by Santa, they can drop them off at an earlier date. We make the experience personal and magical.”
Prices for this bespoke service start from 40 euros.
In addition, this year, Edmondson is offering a special service between 1-3am on Christmas morning, especially for those children which are starting to lose faith in the magic.
“It’s called ‘Catch Santa in the act’,” he said.
There’s a further chance to catch up with Santa after the big day as Edmondson will also visit homes to have tea with the children.
Private home visits will take place on dates throughout December and prices are available on the TOTT events website.
In addition, Santa’s Grotto will be set up at the TOTT office at Limnaria Westpark Centre (opposite the Alexander the Great Hotel) on Saturday, December 6, for one day only.
“If people can’t book a home visit or if they can’t afford it, they can bring their children to our grotto and meet Santa and his Elf helper.”
Santa and his grotto will also be visiting nursery schools and kindergartens in both the Paphos and Limassol districts.
As well as playing the role of Santa, Edmondson and members of the TOTT winter show team, also offer a night of musical theatre and festive hits to get people in the Christmas mood.
‘Winter Wonderland’ will take place today at Kamaroudi Tavern in Konia and tickets are available.
“The evening will also include hits from across the decades and a special visit from frosty the Snowman and Rodney the Reindeer,” he said.
