Mermaid Fabrics is a family-owned store in Karakum, Girne (see map below). They established in 1963 in London, where the original store still stands! 15 years ago the store in North Cyprus opened. It has a huge range of fabrics in all different colours and materials. They also have a large assortment of furniture and carpets.
We were shown the stores workshop where men and women were working to produce furniture and fabrics. Mermaid Fabrics manufactures virtually its entire line themselves. It has a large clientele base and both locals and foreigners come here to shop. They told us that the store has many Norwegian customers who appreciate the wide assortment and personal service.
