An art exhibition with Cyprus in focus takes place during the first half of November. It is the artist George Georgiou who accounts for the paintings, were Cyprus’s beautiful landscapes with greenery and clear blue Mediterranean Sea are portrayed. Even the island’s local population is represented in the images. It is the rich culture and tradition accounting in the center of the paintings.
“George Georgiou continues to converse with tradition, to compose on canvas a “mosaic” of the people of Cyprus, the elements of our culture that is slowly being lost, the sweet memory of a past that is fading more and more, but “nests” in our souls reminding us of our identity…” says Dr. George V. Georgiou, Linguist, Visiting Professor of Linguistics at the University of Athens, about the exhibition.
The exhibition runs from November 2 to 14 at Opus 39 Gallery, 21 Kimonos Street in south Nicosia. Opening hours are: Monday: 5-8pm, Tuesday to Friday: 10.30am to 12.30pm and 5-6pm. For questions please call + 357-22-424983.
