More than 100 people joined the fourth annual Poppy Walk, raising 3,920TL for the Royal British Legion Kyrenia Branch’s Poppy Appeal.
A total of 108 hikers many in fancy dress and accompanied by pet dogs last Saturday tackled 5km and 10km circular routes starting from Lapta’s JK’s Bar and taking in the scenic costal path. UK’s owner Daren Barton served up a barbecue afterwards with musical entertainment from Pete Murray, a raffle and a Poppy Appeal stall selling brooches, poppies and diaries.
RBL branch chairman Brian Thomas said: “It was a great morning, with a great turn out. Overall we are happy to say that the appeal is going very well and we thank everyone for being by our side supporting this great cause in memory of the fallen and the future of the living.”
Organiser Rachael Lyes added “We had such a great atmosphere on the day [and] thank all of the walkers for turning up and supporting the Poppy Appeal to raise both awareness and money.”
