A talk on photography in Cyprus and a guided walk around Zeytinlik are lined up as the Anglo-Turkish Association’s cultural events for February.
Turkish Cypriot photographer Zeki Gürsel will give an illustrated presentation, Photography – Its History and Relevance in Cyprus – on Tuesday, February 9 at Girne’s Ezic Premier Restaurant.
His talk, accompanied by slides of his own acclaimed work, will include the history of photography in Cyprus, the work of contemporary professionals and the relationship between conservation and photography.
Guests are asked to gather at 10.30am for an 11am start and give a 20TL donation which does not include drinks or optional lunch afterwards.
The guided tour, with walkers meeting at 9.30am for the off at 10am, will be led by Tayfun Nesimoğlu – Son of well-known former guide Ali – on Sunday, February 28.
The hour-long walk for a maximum of 20 people, taking in the village’s history and scenic spots, will start and finish at Zeytinlik’s Archway Restaurant, where there will be drinks on arrival and a slide show. Donations of 20TL will cover the event, but not the cost of an optional lunch afterwards.
ATA chairman Pearl Mitchell said: “We have arranged two interesting events to welcome new members who haven’t attended any events before, and non-members who we always like to see among us.”
