Presidential Symphony Orchestra plays Mozart

A free-of charge performance of works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart by the TRNC Presidential Symphony Orchestra is on offer on Saturday January 28 at the Near East University Atatürk Cultural Centre to commemorate the anniversary of the composer’s birth.

The first 2017 concert by the newly-formed orchestra offers a programme of Mozart’s 5th Violin Concert in Opus 219 featuring soloist Ayşe Karaoğlan and a piece by orchestra conductor Ali Hoca entitled Cyprus Caprice.

A 261st birthday concert for the composer is also slated for Friday January 27 at the Famagusta Gate in South Nicosia.

Organised under the auspices of the Australian Embassy and Nicosia Municipality, the 8.30pm concert features the Flautissimo Flute Choir of Limassol, Bulgarian harpist Angela Majdarova and Vienna-based Cypriot soprano Chryso Makariou. Tickets are priced at 15 euros for adults and 10 euros for children.
