Blue Air announces Larnaca-Liverpool flights

Blue Air has announced that it will begin direct flights to Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport from Larnaca Airport this summer.

The twice weekly flights start on June 17.

The Romanian budget carrier recently established a hub at Liverpool with new routes to Rome, Milan, Hamburg and Alicante all starting at the end of March.

Blue Air chief commercial officer, Tudor Constantinescu, told reporters in Liverpool: “We are extremely happy to offer a new route to Larnaca in Cyprus – a sunny destination, on an island rich in history and culture.

“We are committed to develop our base in Liverpool to meet everyone’s expectations and I am confident that this route is an important step in strengthening our position within north-west England.”

The move is also welcomes for residents in Cyprus – especially Cypriot students studying in the United Kingdom and British expats.

Blue Air has been operating for 11 years and now offers flights to over 70 scheduled destinations in Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Blue Air has two aircraft based at Larnaca Airport.

Meanwhile, Cypriot low-budget Cobalt carrier this week announced its first flight to Tel Aviv in Israel would take place on March 26.

“There will be three flights weekly to the carrier’s new destination in a bid to cover tourist needs and at the same time strengthen the tourist flow between the two countries,” a press release read.

Cobalt also said that in view of the scheduled flights from Cyprus to Israel, charter flights from Tel Aviv to popular European destinations have already began.
