One of few places selling English books is Deniz Plaza in Girne. They have both books and things that can be useful in an office. The range is not large and to order dosent always work that well.
To find books written in English we sometimes have to go and search at various markets and flea markets. Thankfully British people are very fond of reading books so often you find the books you have been looking for. However, people selling books at the markets have realized that books are popular here so the price has gone up a lot, from about 2 TL (0,5 GBP) to 4-5 TL / piece (approx 1,5 GBP). The range is varied, although romance, mysteries and detective dominate.
One can also find bargains in most charities’ shops for second-hand goods, they are usually cheaper than the markets.
The English library operated through donations and volunteer work has a good selection. They are located behind the main post office in Girne and is open Wednesday and Saturday between the hours 10:00 to 12:00. For visitors at the island the price for borrowing books is 15 TL and you can borrow as many books you want as long as you are here. For residents it costs 20 TL for a year per person for membership. They have audio books and children’s books as well.
