The artist Françoise Moncomble and author Yvonne Cerkez, had a joint book signing and art exhibition in the Panagia Thermiotissa Church in Dogankoy this weekend. Despite the bad weather, and the fact that it was on the same day as the anniversary celebrations of Northern Cyprus, many people still found their way to the little white church in Dogankoy. Many villagers braved the rain and came to get their books signed or to buy a print of any of Françioses paintings. The paintings are colourful portraits of people the artist met when she worked at various places in the world for her work with British embassies. Yvonne autographed her book about Rauf Denktash, Northern Cyprus’s founder.
