Association publishes book about artichokes

Mormenekşe Women’s Association celebrated its 25th anniversary on Sunday with the launch of its new cookery book, Cinara: Artichoke Meals from Past to Present.

Association head Erşen Ummanel said that all were welcome to attend the launch at 11am at its centre in the village. The book is dedicated to the women of three nearby villages, Muratağa, Atılar and Sandallar, who were among scores massacred in 1974.

Famed for its artichoke crop and annual festival, Mormenekşe has also joined the Slow Food movement to promote locally grown, traditional food and sustainable tourism.
