It is easy to spend many hours in Gardens of Babels’ wild and beautiful garden. The botanical garden, located in Lapta, has 13,000 m² to walk around, and is home to over 600 plant species. Anyyone who has the chance should ever visit this magnificent oasis while in North Cyprus. In the heart of the garden is a nice outdoor cafe where you can have lunch or drink a refreshing cup of coffee, to the sound of squeaking birdsong from the extended tree crowns. Our favourite is definitely the generous Turkish breakfast, which is served all day every day of the week. It consists of fried eggs, grilled halloumi, white cheese, vegetables, sausage, bread, butter, home-made jams and several other local delicacies. Many families come here because the garden is perfect for running around and playing while parents can enjoy the food in peace and quiet. The garden extends far into the area and you will not realise its full size until you walk further into the greenery. On the plot is a privately owned villa. It belongs to the owners of the garden, a couple who a few years ago chose to open their garden to the public. Today, the Gardens of Babel also has a flower shop where you can buy plants for your home.
Garden of Babels’ garden café is always well-attended, especially on weekends. If you want to be sure to get a table you should call and book in advance.
