Car treasure hunt in Esentepe

On Sunday it was time for the yearly car treasure hunt which raises funds for the benefit of cancer sick patients, as part of Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble. The participants who gathered were especially happy that the event could take place although the place initially thought as the start and finish spot, Stevie’s Restaurant and Bar, burned down last week. The new meeting spot was at the restaurant Waterfall, at Pine Valley in Esentepe.

Stevie, the owner of the burned-down restaurant, and the organiser for the car tax chase, was pleased that the treasure hunt could still take place despite the unfortunate fire. Fifty-something cars had gathered in the parking lot at Waterfall and the participants went through the instructions with great concentration before they threw themselves into their cars to spend the sunny Sunday afternoon looking for treasures.

The winners were the Five Musketeers – Janice Harper, Phil Conkie, Sheila Lane, Alison Hatcher and Eddie Celebi – who received medals and who will get their plaque during an event in April, after the fun run is done.

The event gathered a total of 1,410TL – 360TL from registration fees, 260TL from dinners in the restaurant and 790TL from the auction.
