Charity hands over medical equipment to Girne State Hospital

Medical equipment worth 62,000TL was handed over to Girne State Hospital by the North
Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust last Friday.

The donation included a centrifugal system, allowing blood to be tested on the spot for surgery, rather than having to be sent to laboratories in Lefkoşa, two ultrasound devices for use in physiotherapy, and keyhole surgery equipment.

Health Minister Salih Izbul praised the charity’s support for the hospital, saying it was creating an important resource for the community.

He and chief doctor Salih Beyoğlu presented a plaque of appreciation to NCCCT chairman Angela Hasman.

Mrs Hasman said the items had been supplied at the hospital’s request.

“We are always more than happy to help our state hospitals as every lira we collect from our charity shops, fundraising events and volunteer donations is used to contribute to and support our community’s medical needs,” she said.

“We couldn’t have done this without people’s support, for which we are very thankful.”

The NCCCT’s next fundraiser is a monthly coffee morning a Tervetuloa Restaurant, Alsancak, on Tuesday at 10.30am. Entry costs 10TL, including cake and tea or coffee, and there will be a range of stalls.
