The other day our photographer Maria had the misfortune of having to seek medical attention and found herself at the nearby Life Hospital, which ended up being a blessing in disguise.
After the doctor Baris Peker bandaged up Maria’s foot and we found out that everything would be alright, we decided to find out a little more about the hospital and what it is like to work as a Doctor in Northern Cyprus.
Baris who was born and raised in Kyrenia says he studied to be a doctor in Ankara, Turkey.
– After that, I specialized in Orthopaedic surgery in Istanbul, he says.
Baris has worked as a doctor for seven years and today as an Orthopaedist at the privately-run Hospital in the outskirts of Nicosia.
One can seek care in Cyprus Life Hospital for all kind of diseases and problems. One of the largest departments is the department of Gynaecology and Prenatal care. They also specialize in Ear, Nose and Throat.
– We have a clinic for children and teenagers, says Baris, who also adds that he thinks that the healthcare in Northern Cyprus is of a high standard. The care here is as excellent as it is in Turkey, he said.
