Esentepe is a small community in the countryside east of the harbour town of Kyrenia. Esentepe and surrounding areas belong to the region that has blossomed most among foreign home buyers in recent years. Here you will find the tranquility, the beaches and the cool Mediterranean breeze. Compared to Cyprus’s other cities, this region is relatively untouched. Here, you literally live in the middle of nature, where the sea meets the mountains, and where the sunsets are intensely red. The beaches are something extraordinary with wild natural coves scattered along the coast. Here you can discover your own sandy beach or visit any of the public ones where the sun bed is already waiting. Just watch out where you put your sun umbrella, as to this part of the island the sea turtle also comes to lay its eggs!
Here is also North Cyprus’s largest golf club, Korineum Golf & Beach Resort, with an 18-hole championship course in beautiful surroundings. The golf club has several restaurants, tennis club, spa and its own beach, open to the public. If you like to hike, head up to the Five Finger Mountains. Breathe in the fresh scent of pine forest while walking on nature trails lined with history and ancient ruins. From the top you have an unbeatable view of the Mediterranean, and on clear days even to the Turkish mainland!
Esentepe has plenty of local restaurants and bars. If you take a drive or walk along the coast you come across several along the way. Should you ever yearn for the city life, Kyrenia is only 25 kilometres away. If you cross the mountain range and head east, it is also not far to Famagusta, a historic city surrounded by long sunny beaches. Esentepe is also in the right direction for those who want to visit the Karpaz National Park area on the eastern tip of Cyprus.
From Esentepe it takes no more than 40 minutes by car to Ercan airport.
