Film festival in Kyrenia

!f Istanbul International Independent Film Festival has since 2001 organized film festivals in Istanbul. Throughout February they are showing films around Istanbul. !f writes on their website that they are convinced that a shared viewing experience has the power to unite people across borders.

Through a special project the film festival has also travelled outside Istanbul’s borders with more than 30 cities in and around Turkey participating and showing some selected films from the festival. This year Kyrenia is one of the cities and the films that will be shown are named 1001 Grams (Norway), Here is to life! (Turkey), The Kindergarten Teacher (France/Israel), Silvered Water (Syria/France), The Yes Men Are Revolting (USA).

In the film program it mentions that 1001 Grams is in Swedish and that The Yes Men Are Revolting is in English. Other movies are in Turkish, Arabic and Hebrew. All films have Turkish subtitles.

The films are shown in Onar Village in Kyrenia at the following dates and times:

(88 min.; Norway, Germany, France: in Swedish, with Turkish subtitles)

(2) Here’s to Life! With Love from Yırca and Validebağ – (21 February, 12.00 Saturday at Onar Village, Kyrenia)

(80 min.; Turkey: in Turkish, no subtitles.)

(3) The Kindergarten Teacher – (21 February, 14.00 Saturday at Onar Village)

(119 min.; France, Israel: in Hebrew, with Turkish subtitles.) 

(4) Silvered Water, Syria Self-Portrait – (22 February, 12.00 Sunday at Onar Village)

 (92 min.; Syria, France: in Arabic, with English and Turkish subtitles)

(5) The Yes Men are Revolting – (22 February, 14.30 Sunday at Onar Village)

(90 min.; USA: in English, with Turkish subtitles.)
