A concert was staged by two choirs under the auspices of TRNC First Lady Meral Eroğlu on Friday a few weeks ago.
The concert, entitled Songs Talk About Us, featured the Contemporary Music Association Turkish Music Choir and the Cyprus Turkish Orthopedically Handicapped People’s Association Choir which joined forces in the Near East University’s Atatürk Cultural Centre.
Following the joint performance, chairman of the Orthopaedically Handicapped People’s Association, Günay Kibrit, presented a plaque to Mrs Eroğlu and thanked her for helping to make the event such a success. In response to prolonged applause, Mrs Eroğlu said they had adopted the slogan “Love overcomes all obstacles” and declared ”with hearts full of love we shall overcome many more obstacles.”
At the end of the concert the combined choirs dedicated a rendition of the old popular Turkish song Samanyolu (Milky way) to Mrs Eroğlu.
