Fortunatus the Cypriot

The Fantastico Theatro presents the theatre play “Fortunatus the Cypriot” in Famagusta Gate in Nicosia on November 9th 2015, at 8.30pm.

The Fantastico Theatro with director Magdalena Zira “translates” the prose narration on to the stage in a breathtakingly imaginative theatre performance.

The book Fortunatus, first published in the year 1509 in German language, was the most successful bestseller during the times of the Renaissance. The book describes the adventures of the young Fortunatus who leaves Cyprus after his parents’ financial ruin in order to make his fortune in far-away countries. A little fortune bag, given to him by Fortuna, the mistress of good luck, helps him in his many adventures and difficulties.

The performance is supported by the Goethe-Institut Cyprus and is part of the program of the “Month of the German Language”

Tickets can be purchased at the door for 15 euros and 12 euros for students and pensioners.
