North Cyprus will organize the first “organization for economic co-operation” (ECO) University Games. Turkish Youth and Sports Minister Suat Kilic participated in the opening ceremony of the Games in Lefkosa. He said that by organizing such events awakens a glimmer of hope to end the embargo on northern Cyprus. Seven different countries’ athletes will take part in the sporting event. The event is held by the Turkish University Sports Federation. Athletes from Turkey, North Cyprus, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Pakistan are attending the event, which will close on 20 April.
