T&T Airport Company has had a meeting with residents from Degimenlik regarding the expansion of Ercan airport and how it will affect them. Ercan is North Cyprus’s largest airport with hundreds of flights arriving each week, and the number of passengers wishing to fly to North Cyprus is constantly increasing, which means that now there is the need to expand the airport.
Works that need to be done include building a new terminal, expanding the parking area and build a new runway and extend the existing runway. The expansion will be done with the environment in mind, water and litter will be recycled and the energy will come from solar panels, says the General Manager of T&T Airport Administrator, Serhat Ozcelik. Trees will be felled for the construction but will be replanted elsewhere.
