A third golf course is now planned for Northern Cyprus as part of a large project with two hotels and an 18-hole course for a $50 million price tag. This will occur in the developing Bafra zone on the North East coast of Cyprus (see map below).
The Turkish company Bilgili Holdings last month put up signs on the investment (see picture below) near Kensington’s beautiful Thalassa Beach Resort.
The Istanbul-based project manager Levent Abay said: “The golf course will be the first step in the project, and the hotels will come after. We will discuss the hotels name with our business partners, but we plan to have a little more functional hotel and one with a maritime theme. ”
The company has been involved in the real estate industry since 1993 and this will be the first investment the company makes in Northern Cyprus.
Mr Abay added that the project will be coordinated by Korineum Golf and Beach Resorts Günay Cerkez (pictured below), who is also the former head of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce.
Dr Cerkez said they hope to complete the golf course ahead of next year from September to April season.
A new hotel, The Concorde Resort Cyprus, is also planned in Bafras “Bafra Tourism Investment Zone”, by Turkish investors; Zafer Construction and Trade Ltd.
Overall, it is planned to have 13 top hotels in the Bafra zone and so far there are two; Noah’s Ark Deluxe Hotel & Spa and Kaya Artemis Resort & Casino.
The planned projects intended to increase Northern Cyprus tourism capacity of at least 15,000 people. The long term goal is that the whole beach area of Bafra will be a great resort.
This would consist of a mix of luxury hotels and casinos, with buildings to be mostly inspired by and modelled on themes from ancient history or mythology, like the existing Kaya Artemis Hotel (pictured below).
