Nicosia has a new US ambassador. Kathleen Ann Doherty has taken over the duty from John Koenig. She was educated in the field of political sciences and has a master degree in the Comparative Political Systems from the London School of Economics. Previous experience includes work as a journalist and a mix of international work, including at The Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the Department of State, the European and EU Affairs Office, the International Finance and Development Office, the US Embassy to London, the US Embassy to Italy, the US Embassy to Dominican Republic, writes gov.ct.tr.
Doherty worked as a freelance journalist in many media organizations including Washington Post, before her duty in the US Department of State.
She visited North Cyprus in the week where she held an event at the Merit Hotel in north Nicosia. She was to be congratulated for her new position by Turkish officers in uniform.
