North Cyprus photo association

Cyprus Turkish Photographic Association (FODER) was founded by 15 photography enthusiasts in 1992. At that time the name of the organisation was AFSAD (Amateur Photography Artists Association) but it was changed to FODER in 2000. This is the oldest and most active photography association in North Cyprus and today has more than 70 photography buff members. Everyone who is a North Cyprus citizen can become a member. Foreigners who do not have citizenship are also welcome to come along on the trips FODER organises, if seats are available in the bus or in the minibus.

FODER is there for everyone who loves to photograph and wants to show Cyprus to the rest of the world. It is especially there to motivate the younger generation and inspire them to document the world around them with the camera by taking photographs of beautiful scenery, historic sites, people’s everyday lives, villages and urban life. During the year FODER show their photographs at exhibitions so that everyone can enjoy the images.

Members of FODER meet every Thursday evening for lectures, presentations and to comment on each others photos. They also tend to bring in interesting guest photographers to give lecturers.

Those who are interested are welcome to accompany the group on a photo outing on Sundays. The excursions are both on the north and the south side of the island and FODER usually travels around in a minibus. New Cyprus Magazine joined FODER on a full day excursion to areas around Larnaca, South Cyprus. It was a fun and eventful day where the camera’s memory card quickly became full. We saw beautiful scenery with magnificent views, mirror lakes and a swirling waterfall. We also wandered around villages with the sunlight in our eyes around the cobbled streets and winding alleyways. The day ended with a magnificent golden sunset that descended on Larnaca Salt Lake.

If you want to know more about FODER or are interested in joining the photo excursion you can contact the Chairman Mehmet Gökyiğit by phone on: 0542-8520042.

You can also visit FODERs own website: www.kktcfoder.com or on Facebook: Kibris Turk Fotoğraf Dernegi (FODER)
