Photographers to snap up awards

Photography goes on show this month and in November with competitions and exhibitions either taking place or being organised.

This month and the next will offer many competitions and exhibitions in photography.

The 24th Annual Photographic Competition has been launched by the State Cultural Office, and there are calls for exhibits in the biennial Painting and Photography Exhibition by the Anglo Turkish Association (ATA), while three new shows are also taking place.

TRNC citizens over the age of 17 are invited to submit entries for Black and White, Colour and Nature categories in the 24th Annual Photographic Competition by Friday, November 21. More information can be obtained by e-mailing kulturdairesi@yahoo.com.

Selected works will go on show in the capital´s Atatürk Cultural Centre from December 23 and prizes of 2000TL are on offer for the winners of each category, with 500TL prizes for those achieving a special mention.

The ATA launches its Painting and Photography Exhibition at Girne Public Library on Thursday, November 6 for which works must be delivered by 2pm on Tuesday, November 4. Entry forms may be obtained from the Secret Town Café and Bar in Girne between 10am and noon on Wednesdays or via the ATA website.

Exhibitions on offer this week include Kıbrıs Photography and Cultural Association´s week-long show at the capital´s historic Bedestan which opened on Monday.

Lefkosa´s Ismet Vehit Gallery offers a Hope, Hand in Hand show of photographs by Gökhan Saymaz which opened on Tuesday, October 14 to support the Help Those with Cancer Hope Education and Cultural Centre. Both shows are open during government working hours.
