Picking up the pen

north-cyprus-picking-up-the-penDo you have writer’s block? A story that is gnawing somewhere inside without knowing how it will end up on paper. Or perhaps Cyprus’ beautiful nature, clear waters and friendly people have brought a sense of wanting to write like you never had before. Write CY is a group of writers who have formed a place for learning the art of writing. They offer classes and workshops for established writers and for beginners. Also, various events take place, such as book readings and open mic nights, where you can share your work.

For those who want help to make their text into a compelling story or simply get started with their writing, Max Sheridan holds classes where you learn six important steps in the writing process. The course is held on Wednesdays from 7.45-9-15pm, from November 3 and will last for six weeks. The price is 90 euros for adults and 75 euros for students/seniors.

If you already started a story, but are in need of feedback to continue working, then this is offered on Sundays between 2-4pm, starting November 8, also lasting six weeks. Max Sheridan is the teacher and the price is 50 euros for adults and 35 for students/seniors. Here you will be able to read other peoples work and receive comments on your own. Feedback from published authors will also be offered.

On November 14, a one-day workshop in the writing of children’s books will be held. Two weeks later, you can participate in a mindfulness Writers Workshop, where the right mindfulness techniques linked with writing and learning to accept the present and not to judge the experiences you want to write about. It recommends comfortable clothing and to bring your own laptop, alternatively, pen and paper, the latter applies to all courses. The workshops are between 11am-2pm and cost 60 euros for adults and 50 euros for students/seniors.
