The Post Office celebrated its 52nd year this week and issued its provisional
stamp programme for 2016.
All letters posted at the country’s five main post offices on Wednesday bore a special 52-year postmark.
The first new stamps of 2016 will celebrate this year’s Euro 2016 football championships, to be held in France in the summer and will be issued on Thursday, February 25.
An April 28 issue commemorates the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, while the 60th anniversary of Europa Stamps is celebrated on May 12 with a series entitled “Ecology in Europe – Think Green”.
A series featuring ethnographic objects is planned for September 22 before an October 17 issue which honours the “Peace Water Project”.
The sixth and final issue will feature bees and is due to be released on November 24.
