Soprano sings for church restoriation

An appearance in Karaman church, from Northern Cyprus’s resident soprano, Demetra Georgesoprano_norra_cypern_magasinet_north_cyprus_, promises an entertaining show, with musical favourites from Broadway, to increase the building’s restoration fund.

The respected pianist and maestro, Rauf Kasimov, will accompany the Oklahoma-born Grammy-nominated soprano.

Ms. George has performed with over 170 symphony orchestras and has performed on stages from Carnegie Hall and Las Vegas, as well as across the United States and Europe.

Tickets are still available for tomorrow’s 20:00 show, which includes a glass of wine for a 20TL donations go to Karaman Church committee fund.

The one and a half hour show includes a selection of Andrew Lloyd Webber favourites. Ms George was the first American soprano to get permission to perform the songs. The mother-of-two was recently nominated a place in her hometown of Oklahoma’s “Hall of Fame”, and she and Mr. Kasmikov continue to teach promising students…

She said: “I am so excited and looking forward to the concert, I have a lot of surprises up my sleeve.”
