The theatre group Balikcioglu Kabare Tiyatrosu offering stand-up comedy and parody shows throughout North Cyprus at the end of October. The older generation of Cypriots are familiar with the creator Osman Balikçioğlu who was part of the popular radio program “Alikko and Caher” in the 1960s. So popular that today there are statues to their memory in Buyukkonuk. Large parts of the show are in Turkish, but the sketches are understandable through their behaviour and body language and some parts will be in English.
Here he tells Cyprusscene about the upcoming performances: “It consists of four parodies and two short stand-up shows. We will start with a parody called Ses bes FM, which is a dark comedy. After the Turkish Cypriot television presenter Huseyin Kanath, will do a short stand-up show. Then comes our fun-filled second parody called Yalanci Dolmalar.”
“The second act begins with a comic parody called Lurudjinalilar, which is a story of an old couple from the village Lurucina. After that, Huseyin Kanatli gets up on stage for the second time. Finally, our last parody, which is very emotional and funny, is called Hatmali and Caher.”
