Swimmers taking the plunge for Christmas

Sponsored swimmers will be taking the plunge at Çatalköy’s Shayna Beach on Christmas Day to raise money for three local causes.

The swim, being organised for the fifth time by local residents Barbara Fursman and Annalease Friede, will benefit the Special Needs School in Karakum, the Help Those With Cancer Association (Tulips) and Kyrenia Animal Rescue (KAR).

It starts at 10am and the beach bar will serve breakfasts and refreshments for swimmers and spectators alike, donating the proceeds to the charities.

Mrs Fursman said they were expecting a good fundraising effort. “We have around 10 swimmers who have joined, and we are expecting a couple more”.

Sponsorship forms are available from: tulipscarole@yahoo.com and kar@kyreniaanimalrescue.org or by calling 0533 869 4098 or 0533 836 3972.
