Following two years of preparations, the Ancient Odeon of Paphos is ready for the final rehearsals of the production “Trojan Women”.
Internationally acclaimed director Theodoros Terzopoulos is already in Cyprus with his team for the preparation of the much-awaited theatrical production to be staged on July 7-8 as part of the Pafos2017 European Capital of Culture celebrations.
“Trojan Women” features actors from the divided cities of Nicosia, Mostar and Jerusalem, as well as Greece and Syria. Despina Bebedelli will play the dramatic role of Hecuba and Sophia Hill, who has starred in many of Terzopoulos’s productions, will play the role of Helen.
The performance will be dedicated to the memory of Yiannis Kounellis who was to create the visual installations for the play. To honour the memory of this great visual artist who had visited Paphos twice before his death for the preparations of this production, the director creates and introduces to the performance both images and references to Kounellis’s work.
