Turkish Cypriot goods get a ‘thumbs up’ at global fair

Turkish Cypriot goods global fair in Germany

Traders went bananas for Turkish Cypriot goods at the world’s largest fresh produce fair, held in Germany the previous weekend.

North Cyprus was represented at the Fruit Logistica exhibition in Berlin by fruit juice and dairy firm Koop, along with members of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry.

They gave information about the country’s fruit and vegetable producers, handing out leaflets and brochures. Economy and Energy Minister Sunat Atun also paid a visit.

Koop, set up in 1958, produces 25 per cent of the TRNC’s milk along with its own range of concentrates.

Around 3,000 exhibitors from 83 countries took part Fruit Logistica, which celebrated its 25th anniversary, and attracted over 70,000 visitors from 138 countries over three days.

“Fruit Logistica was launched in 1993 in response to an industry demand and has seen impressive development ever since,” said spokesman Christian Göke.

“We started the first year with 100 exhibitors. In 2017, for the first time, the number of exhibitors topped the 3,000 mark.

“As a leading global trade fair, Fruit Logistica is a ‘don’t-miss event’ for players across the entire value chain.

“Not only does the trade fair offer outstanding business opportunities, it has also gained a solid reputation as a platform for information and innovations.”
